This is an exploration of intricate patterns and skulls from Sherrie Thai’s sketchbook. Decor galore!
I created Face Patterns as a background for another piece, but I think it’s rather interesting on its own. This was created in pen/ink on bristol, then scanned and digitally colored.
This sketch was inspired by the Pacific Orchid Expo at Fort Mason. The pen/ink illustration was created in a couple of hours, during my commute.
Chinese Mountains is another exploration of style. It was created with a few different pens. The mixing of organic and geometric lines elude to a modernization of the chinese culture–traditional landscapes and modern skyscrapers.
This is by far my favorite pen and of course, weapon of choice for all the microscopic sketches and concept designs. View larger image here.
Cranes is a slight experimentation into various patterns and textures with a single medium–pen–in a detailed tribal style. View Larger.
I finally got around to creating a Myspace page for Shaire Productions here. With all tasks, there’s always room for improvement, but it’s a start. =0)
I’ve been trying to combine realistic elements with decorative pieces. Although I love black and white imagery, subtle coloration could bring out the content a bit more. Angel Mandala was influenced by the styles of Art & Crafts and Art Nouveau. View Larger.
I’ve always thought Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” was a beautiful tale of regret and redemption. The inspiration was the ominous Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come and Dore’s dramatic etchings. This was created by pen/ink, then digitally colored in Photoshop. View Larger.
As it’s now December, Christmas will soon be upon us. I created Holly Reindeer to celebrate the occasion.
Inspired by the prints of Hiroshige, Mountain & Trees is a wintery illustration that would work well as an e-card. This was created with a few different brush and fine-tip pens. I’ve been exploring minimal color as an accent, not a crutch for the line-work.
Dragon Circle is an apparel design soon to be on Zazzle. This was another pen/ink drawing converted in Adobe Illustrator.
