This handmade book was hand-sewn with five panels of three individual layers: calligraphy, printed die-cut papers and vintage tattooing illustrations. Though a time-consuming process, this one-of-a-kind piece was a rewarding challenge.

I created this dragon to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year–yes, the zodiac Year of the Dragon! As always, a traditional hand-drawn piece was rendered, scanned and cleaned up in Photoshop. The coloring was then digitally applied. I opted for a muted color tone rather than the traditional red and gold palette, modernizing it a bit more.
