This piece is inspired by M.C. Escher and old Japanese woodblock prints. The original drawing was created with pen, then scanned and retouched/assembled in Photoshop.

This is the first time I incorporated coffee and tea in my artwork. Since I’m not a coffee drinker, the small coffee grinds in the kitchen were finally of use. Also, I found that Darjeeling tea had a darker color over Lipton.
After a few washes, diluted sumi ink was splattered by tapping on the paintbrush. The dragon was then applied with several pens on the very forgiving clayboard. Overall, the creative process was very fun and satisfying.

Flight of the Cranes is a mixed media illustration inspired by the classic Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints of Hokusai and Hiroshige. This artwork is also my artistic response to the those affected and lost in the recent earthquake/tsunami in Japan.
The fine art print is available on my Etsy store, under the new Charity section, with 50% of sales donated to the Red Cross.

Inspired by old social/political ink drawings, this emotional piece is about being swept away by external forces (incidents, people, etc) and the negative emotions that come with it: fear, ignorance, hate, jealousy and insecurity.
The piece was created with pen and scanned into the computer. Text was created on a path in Illustrator and subtle coloring/texture was added in Photoshop.
