I’ve always loved vinyl records, iconic objects of great musical exploration and nostalgia. This piece is a combination of an older 7″ 45 RPM vinyl record and the newer 12″ 33⅓ RMP vinyl, with an overlay of metallic paints and a jewelry embellishment. The outward pattern is an abstract zentangle style, surrounding a circular abstract rose illustration. To get to this point, I went through several experiments on vinyl and a few trips to the vintage record store but it was all well worth it.
The piece was created for the PANCAKES & BOOZE Underground Art Show happening in SF this weekend. It’s sure to be a grand event with tons of other artists, live body painting, music and pancakes (of course!). Hope to see you there! Here are the details:

In honor of the Lunar New Year, I created a couple of artistic variations of the Chinese Lion. The traditional Chinese Lion Dance is steeped in martial arts power and fluidity. You can find it as a Shirt or a Tote Bag on my Zazzle shop.

Steampunk Samurai Girl is a modern rendition of the samurai theme, but with steampunk (fanciful industrial gears) and gun elements. It was originally created in pen/ink, then digitally colored and retouched.

“Mischievous Darlings” is a macabre gothic vision inspired by the horror genre. The cuteness of the monsterlings adds a bit of humor and sarcasm to the piece. Sweet dreams my pretties!

“Steampunk Transitions” is a result of my fascination with the steampunk style. There is a nod to mysticism with the incorporation of feathers, which function as a shamanic headdress. The piece was created with graphite and photoshop coloring.

This drawing was inspired by the watercolor landscapes of Asian masters. Majority of the artwork was created with a brush pen (Faber Castell, Shades of Grey). The sky was done with graphite as I wanted a subtler, toned-down effect.
