Doomsday

Doomsday is a handmade poster for the Stick Me Hard 2 International Street Art Exhibition at Musma Gallery in Brussels, Belgium. The topic is “The Worst Case”.

My rendering was created with pen and markers (about 9in. width x 17in. height) to be wheatpasted to the gallery wall. My vision was apocalyptic, where death and destruction reigns free. A nuclear explosion breaks from a skull, positioned above a burning city. The red pattern is a montage of abstract faces done in a Cubist-influenced style.

Inspiration: Andrew Jones and Conceptart.org

Andrew Jones

The art of Andrew Jones stems from his travels, digital media, sculpture, and a macabre fascination with cadavers. All his pieces have incredible energy and style. He creates concept art for video games, film, and books. Ballistic Publishing has a great article on him here.

As a personal project, Andrew teamed up with others to start conceptart.org, an online community of artists (mostly in the gaming industry) to showcase and receive feedback for their work. The site is sponsored mostly by Massive Black, a powerhouse in the entertainment industry (where Andrew is a Creative Director). Conceptart.org holds interactive workshops around the world, educating and inspiring other artists.

Artwork: Love-Inspired Shirts

One Love

Since Valentines is here, there’s love in the air, so that was the theme to these designs. One Love is inspired by a phrase in Bob Marley’s song, “One Love”, but expanded to include the text “One Love, One Hope, One Voice.” It’s done in a grungy fashion, and incorporates my urban calligraphy. It’s based on the inclusive attitude of the hip-hop and reggae musical communities. The shirts are available for men and women here.

Dying for Love

Dying for Love is a goofy visual pun. This design can also be found on Zazzle.

Love Monster

Inspired by the Cookie Monster and Valentines Day, the Love Monster eats hearts for breakfast. Indicative of the “Happy Insanity” t-shirt series, this design has a little bit of cynicism mixed with humor. He can be purchased here.
